The University of Southern Florida at Captiva (USF-Captiva) is an affiliate of the University of Utopia, but the legal name of the university of Utopia will appear on all relevant documents. The University of Utopia is registered and approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a private, non-profit 501 (c)(3) public charity. The University of Utopia is approved by the IRS to receive charitable gifts and is approved by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) public charity.

  • Tax receipts will be mailed to the donor’s preferred address within 15 business days after the donation is received.

  • Gifts made by credit card will receive a tax receipt to the email address provided in the online giving form. Please use your preferred email address when making a gift online. If you prefer to send a check, make it payable to the University of Utopia and send it to 14812 Captiva Drive, Captiva Island, Florida (USA) 33924.

    CHARITABLE GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE AND SECURITIES

    The University of Southern Florida at Captiva (USF is an affiliate of the University of Utopia. However, the University of Utopia accepts Charitable Gifts of real estate and securities from Donors. We provide an opportunity for Donors of real estate to gift their properties such as homes and in return receive potential large tax benefits including Capital Gains Taxes and Charitable Income Tax Deductions. In addition, the Donor can take a Charitable Income Tax Deduction for Fair Market Value of the house. The Charitable Income Tax Deduction is for the tax year on which the gift is made as well for five additional years in which the donor can deduct from her/his income taxes. Charitable Income Tax Deduction can be up to 30 % of the Donor’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). In many cases, a donor can potentially receive the Fair Market Value (FMV) of the house.

    It is a WIN-WIN benefit to both the donor and the university.

    The purpose of the University is to nurture the intellectual development of students. It is highlighted in the words of former President Derek Bok of Harvard University:
